Three Factors To Consider When You Need Jewelry Repair

Blog

A diamond may be forever, but jewelry, unfortunately, is not. If the clasp on your favorite necklace busts or the prongs that hold the diamond on your engagement ring in place work loose, you don't need to despair. You can take in your jewelry for repairs, but before you take your damaged ring or necklace to  the closest jeweler, there are a few things that you need to be aware of first.

Warranties

When you buy jewelry, jewelers may offer a limited warranty, or they may allow you to purchase a more extensive warranty. Thus, when you first become aware of the need for repairs, your first step should be to take your ring to the jewelry store where it was bought and check on the status of your warranty. If you have an active warranty, you may not have to pay for repairs, or you may at least get a discounted rate. Thus, if you have an active warranty, you should have the jewelry store that holds the warrantydo your repairs. On the other hand, if you don't have an active warranty, then you should feel free to shop around for a repair shop.

Cost

Several factors combine to determine the cost of a repair. The parts needed to make your repair, the difficulty of the repair, and the time required. Cost may vary from shop to shop. Because repairs can be expensive, you should feel under no obligation to go with any one jewelry store. Shop around to find one that offers the best service at the best price.

Guarantees

Aside from cost, there is a second factor that you should consider, guarantees. If you don't have an active warranty, and you end up paying full price for your repairs, then hopefully you learn your lesson and take steps to ensure that you don't end up paying  full price should something go wrong with your repairs. Ask jewelers if they offer guarantees on parts and labor. If a jeweler does offer a guarantee on parts and labor, then it may be worth paying a higher price just to know that you won't have to pay for anything that goes wrong with your repairs.

Jewelry repairs can be quite expensive. To make sure your heirlooms, keepsakes, and mementos will stand the test of time, find a jewelry store that offers quality repairs, like C & L Gold & Diamond Brokers, at a reasonable price and with a guarantee.

Investing In Fine Jewelry

When I was looking for ways to diversify my financial portfolio, a friend of mine suggested something interesting. He said that it might be smart to invest in high-end jewelry, so I started looking into it. I found out that many of my friends and family members had done just that--invest in designer pieces that appreciated in value over time. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure what to look for. I had to spend a lot of time learning the ropes before I purchased my first piece. Check out this blog to find out more about high-end jewelry so that you know what to buy.
